U.S. EPA's Report Climate Change Indicators in the United States

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published a new report, Climate Change Indicators in the United States, to help readers interpret a set of important indicators to better understand climate change. The report presents 24 indicators, each describing trends in some way related to the causes and effects of climate change. The indicators focus primarily on the United States, but in some cases global trends are presented in order to provide context or a basis for comparison.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other agencies have released a first-of-its-kind smart growth guide that will help coastal and waterfront communities tackle threats from sea level rise, stronger hurricanes, flooding and other challenges.

Massachusetts a Leader in Climate Change

Massachusetts continues to demonstrate leadership in the arena of climate change. In May 2009, Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Ian A. Bowles named the Climate Change Adaptation Advisory Committee, created under the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2008. The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to help the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs make recommendations for the Commonwealth to adapt to sea level rise, warming temperatures, increased incidence of flood and drought and other effects of climate change. The Advisory Committee's report will be presented to the Legislature by December 31, 2009.

Town Brook Restoration Effort Featured on WBZ-TV

Award-winning meteorologist and CBS Boston affiliate reporter Mish Michaels reports on project involving Town Brook in Plymouth, MA, that will help wildlife and ecosystems adapt to a changing climate. Mish Michaels was also a featured speaker at the Responding to Climate Change: Working Together to Conserve Land, Wildlife and Habitat conference held at Bentley College, Waltham, MA.
